Robert E Kammeyer

Our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Robert E. Kammeyer, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012, at his home. Robert was born at 6:10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 1929. He was the second of three children born to Ernest F. and Ada May Richardson Kammeyer. He was born and raised in Ogden, Utah. His first job was at the age of 11 working in the family-owned Kammeyer Sporting Goods store.

Upon graduating from Ogden High School in 1947, Robert attended Weber College. After working in the family business for 17 years, he entered the field of computer programming at Hill Air Force Base. He later went on to work as a programmer analyst at Morton Thiokol and then as an analyst, and training and standards specialist at Kennecott Copper, before finishing his career at Northwest Pipeline as a senior staff analyst, retiring in 1984. Robert was proud of the fact that from age 11 until his retirement at age 55, he was employed for all but two months.

In his younger years, Robert played drums in the high school band and concert orchestra, and also played in college. He served as the drum major his senior year in high school. Robert was an avid snow and water skier. Many have told stories about how he could "wow" others with his water skiing abilities, including being able to routinely come up out of the water backwards on two skis.

Robert had a genuine desire to help others, whether through financial means or donating his time by spending all morning after a heavy snow storm clearing the driveways and walks of his neighbors. Even though he helped many, he never expected anything in return. Robert was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Robert married Carla Salmon on November 21, 1948, later divorced. Married Joane Paulsen June 4, 1960, later divorced. Married Lynda Joy Barber, December 12, 1970, later divorced. He is survived by four children: Vikki Lynn (Hank) Eglinsdoerfer of Marmaduke, AR, Harold S. (Karen) Kammeyer of South Ogden, Robert Ernest Kammeyer of American Falls, ID, and Ken (Lisa) Kammeyer of South Jordan. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jennifer, Jeffery, Janice, MaryBeth, Brian, Karlee, Ashlee and Lillee; and seven great grandchildren: Shaylee, Kaiya, Riley, Kolton, Karsen, Finley and Kaio. Preceded in death by parents, sisters Marian Jouflas and Pat Shaw and first wife and dear friend Carla.
