Robert Gray, beloved father, son, grandpa, and friend passed away October 27, 2025, at the age of 61. He passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by those who loved him most, after a battle with heart failure.
Born in Germany, to Maria and Robert Gray of Layton. Robert spent his early years traveling the world as part of a proud military family. His father’s service in the United States Air Force took the family across countries and cultures shaping Robert into a man of deep curiosity, adaptability and appreciation for life’s many experiences. Eventually, the family settled in Layton, Utah, where he built lasting friendships, and a life filled with purpose and warmth.
Robert was a graduate of Layton High School Class of 1982. A gifted athlete, he was known for his tenacity, passion, and sportsmanship, excelling in both football and wrestling. After graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Where he served 6 years honorably and built a strong sense of duty and camaraderie that would stay with him throughout his life and shape him into a dedicated and resilient man.
During his time with the Reserves, Robert worked for many years for Faball a company that made bowling balls. Always open to new opportunities, Robert later transitioned into a career in truck driving, a profession he embraced for over 25 years.
Of all his accomplishments, Robert was most proud of his one and only daughter, Jessica, whom he loved beyond measure. His devotion, guidance, gentle heart, and infectious attitude will continue to live on through her.
Robert was known for his work ethic, adventurous spirit, kindness, humor, and let’s not forget his stubbornness. Whether sharing stories from his life experiences or lending a helping hand, he brought light and laughter where he went.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Anthony); grandchildren, Payshantz and Elli; mother, Maria; sister, Kathleen (John); and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Robert will be remembered not only for all the places he traveled but for the lives he touched along the way.
Over the past several years, Robert and our family have been deeply affected by the complexities of his diagnosis and treatment plans. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the many healthcare professional, first responders, and hospice caregivers who provided exceptional care, patience, and support throughout the years.
No formal services will be held at this time. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
