Robert Gleave

January 10, 1936 — February 9, 2024

It's with heavy hearts and great sorrow that the Gleave family announce the passing of Robert Cleon Gleave. Known as “Cleon” to his family and as “Bob” to his friends. Robert passed on February 9, 2024, at the age of 88. He left this world surrounded by his loving and dedicated family. Robert will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Robert was a man of few words. However, Robert had countless layers and talents which he revealed throughout his life through his awe-inspiring paintings and later in life through sharing his stories and memories.

Robert Cleon Gleave was born on January 10, 1936, in Marysvale, Utah. Son of Walter Feldon Gleave and Earlean Young Gleave. Robert was one of seven children.

Robert was a U.S. Navy Veteran who honorably served his country from 1956 to 1962. Following his service in the Navy, Robert received a Bachelor’s degree from Dixie State College in southern Utah and went on to work as a civil servant at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah, until he retired at the age of 55.

Robert “Bob” Cleon Gleave fathered six children and is survived by five of his children. Robert’s eldest son, Robert William Feldon Gleave, passed away on December 27, 2018. Robert's surviving children are Debbie Parker, Celeste Gleave, Trina Keane, Torrey Gleave, and Terry Gleave.

Eleanor Blackson was Robert's partner for 30-plus years. Elenor passed away on April 2, 2022.  Eleanor Blackson was mother to three daughters and is survived by two of them: Barbra Schneiter and Tracey Blackson. Elenor’s daughter, Kim Hansen, passed away on October 19, 2020.

Robert leaves a legacy of 31 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Looking back over Robert's 88 years on this earth, it's clear he moved from each phase of life to the next with accrued lessons of self-improvement and personal growth to become a man who valued his relationships with his family and friends. Robert will be greatly missed. May he have plenty of “Cleons” to drink as he sits reunited with his brothers, sister, son, mother, and father. We will always love and miss you.
