Robert Henry Dawson

Robert Henry Dawson passed away on January 3,2026. Bob was born on June 4,1939 in Ogden, Utah to James Columbus and Lucile Tribe Dawson. He attended school in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1957. He attended Weber College majoring in accounting. He was employed at Anderson Lumber Company, Corkey & Corkey, CPA, Ogden Livestock Auction Company and finally 36 years at Golden West Credit Union.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Bob served three missions, the first was in the Alaskan-Canadian Mission. Nine weeks after his return home. He married DeAnn Youngberg on May 16,1963 in the Logan temple. One year after their marriage Bob was called to serve in the Weber Heights Stake Mission. After retiring he and DeAnn served in the Alaska Anchorage Mission. He served as finance clerk for bishops, stake presidents and mission presidents.

He was the proud father of five sons, Robert (Tamera) of Harrisville, Ryan (Janice) of Willard, Troy (Mechelle) SanTan Valley, Arizona, Tracy (Spring) of West Haven, and Brock of Roy, and grandfather to Andrew, Robyn, Stacey, David, Joshua, Taylor, Hannah, Madelyn, Ella, Luke, Jeter and Gehrig, and great grandchildren Ian, Lilly, Gracelyn, Ronin and Dyllan.

His great joy was baseball and at one time he was a walking baseball encyclopedia. His team was the Dodgers and had the opportunity to attend a World Series game in Los Angeles. He was a hermit by nature and would disappear if things got noisy, (noisy was very often in our household).

Bob was diagnosed with Diabetes when he was 42 years old. He always said he would not die from diabetes. He took up walking to help keep it under control and faithfully walked the track at Municipal Park until 2014. Dementia is a cruel disease that took away many memories.

He and DeAnn did some traveling. They visited London England, New York City and many eastern states as they picked up their sons as they completed missions. They also toured Church sites of Palmira and Nauvoo. While serving in Alaska they visited many cities and loved the wildlife and the magic of darkness and light in that beautiful state.

He loved the temple and served in the Ogden temple for eight and a haif years. Following a stroke in 2016 he was unable to return to serve.

He is survived by his wife DeAnn, his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his brother James J. Dawson, sister Diane (Jerry) Shupe. Preceded in death by his parents Jim and Lucile, sister Marilyn Hinds, brother Charles, grandson Brenden Dawson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
