Robert (Bob) Felder Bruhn October 5, 1934 – August 1, 2025

Robert “Bob” Felder Bruhn, 90, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, humor, faith, and love. Born Robert Dean Ashby to Minnie Louise Weighall and Emeron V Ashby in Elko, Nevada. Bob’s early years were shaped by resilience and self-reliance. He grew up in the Nevada State Orphan’s Home. He was adopted by Evelyn Slaton and George Otto Bruhn. His foster parents were Jessie and F.R. Nickerson. At age 14, he began supporting himself—a journey that led him to become a self-educated man deeply admired for his character and accomplishments.

Bob proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, receiving commendations for bravery and expert marksmanship. In 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Vonda Pearl Warner, beginning a 73-year love story. They were sealed, with their children, in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Bob retired in 1995 after 26 years with the City of Bountiful, where he rose to Assistant Superintendent of Streets, Sanitation, and Landfill. Known as the “Grandfather of Automation” in waste management, he served as International President of GRCDA and SWANA. His civic service also included roles as policeman, firefighter, ambulance driver, safety director, and boy scout leader.

A proud Marine and patriot, Bob later served as Commandant of his local Marine Corps League Detachment and Senior Vice Commandant for the Department of Utah. He was honored to raise the Marine Corps flag at the 2011 dedication of the Custer County Veterans Memorial.

Bob’s talents were vast—electrician, mechanic, carpenter, and craftsman. He shared these gifts with his family, building toys, furniture, and lasting memories. His humor, quick wit, and love of storytelling brought joy to all who knew him.

Bob is survived by his five children: Brenda Hood, Ronnie Bruhn, James (Shelley) Bruhn, Larena Fincher, and Robert (DJ) Bruhn; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; sister Mable Washburn; sister-in-law Lela Warner; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Vonda, parents, numerous siblings, and extended family.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to his home health nurse, Janie Wilkinson, Dr. Cindi Leech, the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home and Bristol Hospice for their compassionate care.

Bob will be remembered for his enduring faith, deep devotion to family, patriotic service, unmatched wit, and the love he gave so freely.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, August 9, 2025 with visitation prior at 10AM at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary 727 North 400 East Bountiful, UT 84010
