Rickie Blaine Jenkins 78, of Clinton, Utah, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at The Terrace in Washington Terrace, Utah, following a recent illness. He was born December 9, 1947 in Logan, Utah. He was the son of Blaine LaVon and LuDean Stuart Jenkins of Washington Terrace, Utah. Rick lived a year in Castle Rock, Idaho and then moved to Roy, Utah for about a year before moving with his parents to Washington Terrace, Utah. He attended Weber School District and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1966. After high school, he went on a mission to Northern Argentina for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended Weber State College and then served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged after a short time for medical reasons. He married his soul mate, Suzan Martin in the Salt Lake City temple on August 20, 1970. They lived in the Ogden area until 1974, when they moved to Clinton.
Rick worked in Ogden for the Internal Revenue Service as a clerk sorting forms until 1974 and then worked for 10 years with Asael Farr and Sons Co. In 1984, he went to work for Weber School District where he served as the Head Custodian at Sand Ridge Jr High in Roy, Utah. He really loved his job and said he always looked forward to Mondays, when he could be with the kids and his co-workers. His passion was to work with the kids, encourage them to take pride in their school, and to keep it a clean and safe place to come to learn. Rick took a great interest in those kids who were struggling in the classroom and offered an alternative class in which they could be a custodial aide. They worked on skills that would benefit them in or out of the classroom, such as people skills, the ability to listen, understand and follow directions, ask questions, and showing respect to other students and adults. He believed if he could instill these qualities in them, they could be successful in the classroom. Rick retired in 2007 after 25 years of service.
Rick’s passion was tying fishing flies, making fishing poles, fishing, collecting old guns, hunting with his family and camping, especially in the Island Park area. He was very dedicated to his family, often putting his wife, children, grandkids and great grandkids before himself. He loved spending quality time with them and attended any and all concerts, recitals or performances that they were involved in (especially grandkids).
Rick was a member of the Clinton 9th ward, where he served as a High Priest. He loved his faith and had a strong testimony of the gospel and Jesus Christ.
Rick is survived by his wife, Suzan Jenkins; children, Janet Jenkins, Derrick (CleAnn) Jenkins, Steven Jenkins, and Lori (Jeff) Taylor; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Doug (Holly) Jenkins, Karen (Randy) Taylor, and Melinda Klev (Jerry Davis).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, LaVon Jenkins and Emma Marriott; Thomas and Vera Stuart; his parents Blaine and LuDean Jenkins; and his sister, Marsha Burr.
Special thanks to the staff at The Terrace, where he resided for the last 13 months, who took such good care of him and kept him comfortable during the final days of his life.
