Richard Francisco Scorsone, 73, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022 at McKay-Dee Hospital of natural causes.

 

Born January 3, 1949 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Guiseppe “Joseph” Vincent and Maria “Mary” Frances Rizzuto Scorsone, Richard was the youngest of four children. Richard graduated from Ogden High School, Class of 1967 and then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving honorably from the summer of 1968 to October of 1988, and retiring as a Chief Boiler Technician. His 20 years of distinguished military service included combat and over two years at sea.

 

Richard married the love of his life, Laura Phillips on April 18, 2005 in Ogden, Utah. He enjoyed playing Tuba, wrestling and track in his younger years. He loved spending time in the outdoors, camping, riding his mountain bike and ATV.

 

He will be remembered for his laugh and witty banter. Richard loved to take his grandchildren for ice cream and fishing in the park.

 

Richard is survived by his wife of 17 years, Laura Scorsone, Ogden; daughter, Tamara Rose, Louisville, KY; adopted children, Tami Marie, Henderson, NV and Chris (Nicole) Scorsone, Eagle Mountain, UT; and by Laura’s sons, whom he loved as his very own, Victor (Aline) Phillips, Mendenville, LA and Michael G. Phillips, Ogden, UT; along with many grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary; brothers, Thomas and Charles; and sister, Marian.

 

The family wishes to thank McKay Dee Hospital nurses and doctors for the care they provided.

 

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, where military honors will be accorded.

 

Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
