Richard "Rich" Scott Keller

Richard “Rich” Scott Keller died peacefully at home on November 28, 2024, in Layton, Utah, at the age of 83, due to complications from Covid-19. He was born in Ogden, Utah, to parents Raymond “Ray” Keller and Mildred Laverne Keller (Williams), also of Ogden.

 While in Ogden, Rich grew up on and around the Ogden Country Club and developed a life long passion for golf. He would go on to win numerous titles and championships, while recording twenty-nine hole-in-ones during stroke-play over his golfing career.

 After graduating Weber State University, Rich would meet Carol McCulloch (Walters) in 1965, and they would go on to marry and move to Silicon Valley, California, in 1970. In 1973, they welcomed their only child together, Richard “Rick” Keller Jr. In California, Rich worked in the information technology and telecommunications fields and took full advantage of the year-round golfing opportunities provided by the California weather. Rich and family would move to Layton, Utah in October 1994, and he would join Oakridge Country Club for what would be twenty of the best golfing years of his life.

 Rich is survived by his wife Carol (Walters), son Richard “Rick” Keller Jr., daughter-in-law Cheryl (King), granddaughters Kaidence and Aspen (Hall), stepsons David and Darin (McCullough), brothers Kenneth “Ken”, Ronald “Ron”, and sister Lynda Keller (Hamblin). He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Mildred, sister Scheron(Terry), and stepdaughter Darla (McCullough).

 Funeral services will be held Friday December 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit Thursday December5 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.
