Richard Humphries

Richard Layton Humphries returned to his Heavenly Father on May 8, 2016 surrounded by his family.

Born on November 18, 1930 in Ogden, Utah to John F. and Luella Layton Humphries.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Charlotte Bruestle Humphries, his 4 children: Victoria (Paul), Charlotte (Kurt), Susanne (Stuart), and Richard Walter (Eileen), 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and his dog Buddy, who were the joy of his life.

Preceded in death by his parents.

He lived in Layton and Kaysville, Utah most of his life. He graduated from Davis High School.

He served our country as a Navy Corpsman during the Korean War. After his service he attended the University of Utah.

Richard worked for Clover Club Foods for 20 years before employment with Archway Cookies as a sales manager until retirement.

He married Charlotte Bruestle on April 12, 1968; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 7, 1993.

He was an active member of the LDS church, serving as a High Priest. He loved his calling as a home teacher bringing a gospel message and love to his families each month.

He enjoyed being around his family, spending time at their mountain property in Huntsville, Davis High and U of U sports, outdoor sports, water skiing, bowling, gardening, playing board games with his grandchildren, and playing basketball with his great grandson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
