Listen to Obituary

Richard Louis Hartmann passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 12, 2025. He was born to Emiluis and Lula Dove Facer Hartmann on December 9, 1937, in Ogden Utah.

He grew up in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School in 1956. After graduation Rich went on to join the family business "E.W. Hartmann and Sons," as a plumber. He then went to further his expertise as a welder and pipefitter with the Utah Pipe Trades Union. Eventually he opened his own business, "Richard Hartmann Plumbing" where he finished his career.

On July 31, 1971, Rich married Evelyn Mosher in Elko, Nevada. Along with his marriage he gained three children, Julie, Shelley, and Jeff. Together, they went on to build their forever home from the ground up in South Ogden.

There wasn't anything that he couldn't fix. From repairing his wife's car, screw by screw, to sewing a custom shirt perfect for western square dancing. One of his many hobbies also included leatherwork. He made his own belts, wallets, and even a gun holster. Another one of his passions was being a part of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. He designed, constructed, and flew his own model airplanes. When he wasn't flying his model planes he was flying an actual plane, as he also held a pilot’s license.

As a man of faith, he was a proud member of his church, The Philadelphia Church of God. He was thought of as a man of few words, until he had a story to share, and he always had the best stories. If anyone had any problem, from car troubles to simply needing a ride he was your man. Out of his many accolades the title he was most proud to hold was Grandpa. There was hardly ever an event of his grandchildren's that he didn't attend.

Richard and Evelyn were married for 54 years, passing away just four days apart.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Shelley (Bill) Alvey; son, Jeff (Sandy) Herrick; a son-in-law, David Castañeda; as well as his 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie; his parents; his brothers, Darwin, William, and Robert; as well as his best buddy, his cat Kiki.
