Richard M. Downward

Richard M. Downward, 84, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 at his home in Bountiful, Utah.

He was born November 23, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah the son of William E. and Gladys McLaren Downward. He married Vivian Bullough in the Salt Lake Temple September 1, 1949.

Richard served in the US Army and worked for Utah Power and Light. He was a member of the Sertoma Club. He enjoyed golf, gardening, and carpentry and was "Mr. Fix It."

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints serving as a Branch President and Temple Worker. He and his wife served missions to Samoa, Tonga, Scotland and Temple Square.

He is survived by his wife Vivian, children Richard (Sheri) Downward, Kanab,UT; Coleen (David) Huff, Spanish Fork, UT; Charlene Downward, Clinton Township, MI; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sisters Maxine Anderson and LuDean Romney. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary Eileen, brother Eddie, granddaughter Kathleen and great-grandson Logan. The family would like to thank Symbii Hospice for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Bountiful 20th Ward Chapel, 102 E. 1400 S. Friends may visit family Thurs. from 6-8 pm at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N 400 E. and Fri. from 9:45 a€" 10:45 am at the church prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery
