Richard Gary Baur

OGDEN - Richard "Rick" Gary Baur, 49, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012. He was born on September 2, 1962 to Gary Roger Baur and Margaret Phelps Vaughn in Ogden.

He graduated from Ogden High School and auctioneering school. On June 14, 1984, he married Kristina Brann in Ogden. They were later divorced. On November 11, 2001, he married Monica Martin in Hawaii.

Rick, through the guidance of his father, developed an early love for the auto salvage business. This passion eventually led to his ownership and operation of Mountain States Salvage Pool. It was here that he honed his auctioneering skills. He also owned and operated the Auto Auction. Rick loved negotiating "the deal" which made him the entrepreneur that he was.

He had a unique wit that he inherited from his mother. He was easy to talk to, had a quick laugh and would often quote appropriately humorous lines from movies or comedians. Most conversations with Rick could easily be retold as another good "Rick" story. His charm and whimsical attitude earned him the love of many lifelong friends.

Rick was most often in search of adventure, usually with risk and always at 110%. He loved skiing (black diamond of course), "There''s only one way down the hill, straight down!" He earned his private pilot''s license and loved to skydive. Boating in his "Fun Hog" in St. Thomas, fishing off the waters of the British Columbia or just lounging in the pool, it was evident that Rick loved the water and the fun times associated with it.

He is survived by his wife, Monica; sons, Chase and Zigg; stepdaughter, McKenna; father, Gary Baur; brother, Brett (Sheila) Baur; and sisters, Dana (Jerry) Schaaf and Nicole (Bart) Miller.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Vaughn.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
