Rebecca Diane Penman
"Now you know I don’t like pigs.”
On January 3, 2026, our precious wife, mother and daughter, Rebecca Diane Penman earned her angel wings after a valiant battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease.
Rebecca was born on March 28,1981, the second daughter of Cheryl King and Robert Anderson. She grew up in West Valley City with her Anderson cousins and had many happy memories of spending time with them.
Rebecca had a wicked sense of humor and employed it many times to get herself out of trouble or to relieve tension in awkward situations. She also loved music and spent hours on end playing her organ. She did not read music but that didn’t stop her, she would just play by ear.
Rebecca graduated from Granger High School in 1999 and went on (after her marriage) to earn her associate degree from Davis Applied Technology College.
In May of 2001 Rebecca met the love of her life, Christopher Penman, at a dance. When she came home that night, Rebecca said “I’m going to marry that man.” And, sure enough, Rebecca and Chris were married 1 year later (to the day) in the Salt Lake Temple, thus beginning their eternal journey together as husband and wife.
More than anything else in her life, Rebecca longed to be a mother. Finally in 2009 her dream came true when she became Max’s mom through the blessing of adoption. And boy did she love that little guy! Rebecca worked so hard to be a good mom for Max, even when this insidious disease ravaged her mind and body.
In 2019 at the age of 38 Rebecca’s life exploded and her dreams disappeared when she received her diagnosis of a genetic mutation resulting in an exceedingly rare form of Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease. In spite of her devastation, she faced this horrific disease with courage and resilience. In December of 2020 Rebecca joined her sister at Heritage Park Care Center. She and Laura were cared for by the most incredible angels. Everyone at the care center knew and loved Rebecca, including the other residents. Her family will be forever indebted to these wonderful people, and we will miss them dearly as they became family to us throughout the 6 years, we relied on them to care for our most precious daughters.
It is comforting to know that so many of Rebecca’s loved ones were waiting at Heaven’s gate to welcome her home. Rebecca was preceded in death by her father, Robert Anderson, her sisters, Laura Ackerman and Kelly Boren, her niece and nephew Jaden, and Haley Boren, and her grandparents, Robert and Clella Ackerman, John and Emma Anderson and Ray King.
Those of us left behind to carry Rebecca’s memory include Christopher and Maxwell Penman (husband and son), Cheryl and Jeff King (mother and father), aunts and uncles, Cherie (Ted) Anderson, Joanne Ackerman (Gayle Threet), and Robert (Connie) Ackerman. She will be dearly missed by her loving cousins, Tad (Mica) Anderson, Brett (Cyndi) Anderson, Russell (Kristy) Anderson, Jack (Jamie) Threet, Kallie (Andy) Malmstrom and Jacob Ackerman. She is also survived by her mother and father-in-law, Bonne and Scott Penman and her brother and sister-in-law, Chad and Annie Penman. We know that Rebecca will be fondly remembered by her step-grandmother, Leda King.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Rebecca’s kind heart and charitable soul, her family humbly requests that you consider performing an act of kindness in her memory.
We will miss you forever Becker Becker Nerve Wrecker
