They moved to Idaho Falls where they began their family. Ray and Elaine moved to San Leandro, CA in 1953 where Ray continued his work with the newspaper and lived there until 1989 when he retired.  They then moved to Layton, Utah.

Ray loved animals, especially his horse Ginger and his many dogs.  He enjoyed reading, jewelry making, gardening, and jig saw puzzles.  He could fix and build almost anything.  He was a storyteller extraordinaire.  He enjoyed writing articles for numerous magazines.

During his lifetime Ray served as a faithful home teacher, a ward clerk, a member of a branch presidency and as a member of the high priest’s group leadership.  His favorite calling was teaching about church history.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, his sons Scott and Paul (Patricia) and his brother, Leo. He is survived by his son Craig (Linda), his sister Jo Ann Barzee, 17 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
