Ray A. Martinez
OGDEN - Ray A. Martinez passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Davis Hospital and Medical Center in Layton.
His life began on August 26, 1949 in Monero, New Mexico, to Issac and Adelia Martinez. He attended schools in Ogden, Utah. He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1968-1970
Ray married Jeanette Martinez on July 31, 1970. Together they have two children, his son, Jamie (Valerie) grandchildren Avery (7), Xavier (5), Roman (16 months), his daughter RayeAnne (Bronson) grandchildren Joseph (12), Devin (9), and Jaden (6).
Ray retired from Hill Air Force Base following 34 years of service. He received numerous sustained Superior awards during his tenure.
After his retirement he worked for Decorative Curbing.
Ray loved babysitting his grandchildren whenever he was asked, sometimes all six at one time. Ray was an extremely wonderful person who took in anyone who needed a friend or a place to stay. He also had numerous friends over his lifetime that will certainly miss him. He had a great personality and a smile for everyone.
He is survived by his wife, his children and their spouses, six grandchildren, his mother Adelia Martinez, eight brothers, five sisters and 34 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, father-in-law, and his father Isaac Martinez.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 514 – 24th Street.
Ray you were the love of my life for 37 years. Rest in peace my love and watch over us in heaven.
