Ranae Montgomery

Ranae Boam Montgomery passed away on May 1, 2026 from dementia at the age of 83. She was born in Ogden, Utah on June 6, 1942. Her parents were Peter Boam and Lorna Farr. Ranae graduated from Ogden High School in 1960.

Ranae loved horses and grew up as a barrel racer, competing in many rodeos across the western United States. Ranae loved animals. She was a professional dog groomer and owned and operated her own grooming salon in Layton. Ranae enjoyed showing poodles and many friends in dog show competitions. She later transitioned into the medical field becoming a CNA. Ranae made many life long friends in the medical field who she dearly treasured.

After her husband, Earl, retired in 1994, she also retired and together the spent every summer in the family cabin in Island Park, Idaho. There she loved boating, fishing, riding the ATV's and long rides in the majestic mountains of Montana and Idaho.

Ranae is preceded in death by her son Rodney Montgomery, daughter in law Lisa Montgomery., granddaughter Jessica and both her parents and her husbands parents. Ranae is survived by her son Jeffery (Donna) Montgomery, daughter Sheri (Chuck) McPhee. Three grand-children, and nine great grand children.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Applegate hospice staff, especially grateful for Annette Wood and her personal aid Meloney, and all of the  other staff who cared for her so compassionately and caring. 

Graveside services will be held Friday May 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit Friday May 8, 2026 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
