Ralph Amos Jones

May 9, 1935 — June 18, 2025

Ralph Amos Jones, 90, of North Ogden, passed away on the evening of June 18, 2025 of a lung disease. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Ralph was born May 9, 1935, in Ogden, Utah to Stanley Jones and Esther Janet Maycock. He was raised and schooled in the Ogden area. He graduated from Ogden high school and completed accounting in college.

Ralph served in the Army during the Korean War, as a Morse code signalman, one mile from the front line.

Ralph met his sweetheart of 61 years, Tamara Smith Jones and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 5, 1959. They raised their family together primarily in North Ogden, Utah.

Most of Ralph’s career was spent working for the US Government at Hill Air Force Base and the Defense Depot Ogden, Logistics Agency as a Maintenance Chief. He then retired to work and build onto his home and to travel with his sweetheart, Tamara. When Ralph decided he had built and fixed everything he and his sweetheart could think of, traveled everywhere they wanted in their motor home, he decided to go back to work. He worked for the Harrisville Walmart for 15 years in the hardware and paint section where he used his construction and woodworking skills to instruct customers on how to complete their projects in the best, least expensive way. He received many accommodation letters from customers to management on how much they appreciated him always going the extra mile.

Ralph was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions throughout his life. Ralph never had a cross or unkind thing to say about anyone. He never raised his voice in anger. He was a true example of how to treat others, always acted with honesty and integrity and showed daily in his acts and deeds that he was a believer in, our Savior Jesus Christ.

Ralph could do anything, repair anything, and build anything he wanted. He was an avid woodworker. Ralph never had a service man at his home, or work on his vehicles more than once. His father had taught him. “You only pay for a service once, you watch how they make the repair, so you can do it the next time.” His family has many of his woodworking projects in their homes. Chairs, calendar holders, really, anything you can think of, Ralph made it for his family.

Ralph always gave good advice and told the best stories. Everyone around him could sit and listen for hours about his growing up, his adventures and the history of the Ogden area.

Ralph, our amazing father, grandfather, uncle, friend - will be missed more than words can be written, more than words can be spoken!

Ralph is survived by his children, Margo (Doug) Maw, Pleasant View, Annette (David) Burnett, North Ogden, Michael (Kathy) Jones, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Angela “Angie” (Larry) Johnson, Warren; 21 grandchildren, and 57 great-grandchildren, with more on the way. He was excited to have his first great-great-grandchild due in August of this year. Dad was preceded in death by his sweetheart Tamara Smith Jones; his son, Jimmy Jones; great-grandson, Kyrie Halford; his parents, Stanley Jones and Esther Janet Maycock Jones; his siblings, Shirley Jones, Earl Jones, Byron Jones, and Janet Little.

A special thank you to Intermountain Health Hospice. The “team” took such good care of dad, and a special thanks to his nurse, Kellie Anne. We appreciate your loving care.
