Raejean Lewis Herrera

July 19, 1961 — July 18, 2024

Raejean Lewis Herrera returned home to her Father in heaven on July 18, 2024 surrounded by her sister and loving nieces. Raejean was born at Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden, Utah on July 19, 1961 to parents Ray Gene Lewis and Joan Rogers Lewis. As a child she spent time with her siblings teasing one another, playing outside, camping with her family, and playing the piano and singing loud for all to hear. She loved her family and spending time with them filled her soul.

She grew up in the heart of Ogden and she graduated from Ogden High School in June of 1979. Much of her time in high school was spent doing theater, singing in choir and being creative. She then proceeded to further her education at Weber State University studying music, dance, theater, and English. She graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor in Arts. Raejean also studied drama and stage management at UC Irvine however she felt the atmosphere wasn’t right for her and returned home.

Raejean was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent many of her younger days at the youth camps that the church offered in the summer. She was called to serve, and she did fulfill a full time mission to Oakland California. She received her endowments in the Ogden Temple on November 13, 1982 and left shortly after that to where she called home for 18 months. Raejean was a warm, kind, and effective missionary. She enjoyed the work and was grateful to represent her Savior.

Upon returning home from her mission and finishing her schooling Raejean went on to meet the love of her life Ernest, and they were married on September 4, 1993 in Ogden, Utah. Raejean had a heart so big and was always eager to bring people into her life, she engulfed herself into Ernest and his family as much as she could. She accepted his family as her own and he quickly became loved and cherished by her family also. Raejean was always most joyful being surrounded by family and friends. When they settled into their home in Magna, Utah they opened their home to family and loved ones.

Raejean is survived by her sister Vickie Border and her brother Jesse (Stephanie) Lewis. She has her nieces, Kelsy (Jordan) Steed, Lyndsay (Danny) Ackerman, Taylor Barrett, and Bryttney (Cody) Hansen and her nephew Keegan (Savanah) Border that she loved dearly and cherished the relationships she was able to have with them and their children over the years. She was an extremely thoughtful aunt to them all. Always creating baby blankets for every great niece and nephew she had and remembering birthdays and special events. Her heart was so full of love for all of them and she was wonderful at taking the time to make them feel uniquely cared for by her.

She also had a very special relationship with her nieces Sherette (Katrina) and Catrina Contreras and loved them and their children beyond measure. She often spoke of how much joy her grandchildren Derrik (Carly Garcia) Herrera, Mariah (Ben Roupp) Herrera, Adrian Contreras, Diego Contreras, Xavior Herrera, Samarie Herrera, Amira Herrera, and Alayah Herrera brought to her life. Raejean and Ernest were grateful for the role that they could play additional grandparent figures and would brag about the achievements of their grandchildren any chance they could. Raejean would have moved heaven and earth to help any one of them succeed in achieving their goals and aspirations.

Raejean’s heart was one made from gold. She had a love for all God’s creatures and she and Ernest were the parents to many cats and dogs over the years. Her passion for knowledge and information never ceased, she was always willing to learn and further her knowledge on most any subject. She was bright, unique, colorful, and creative. Always willing to make something, volunteer to sing, or just lend an ear if need be.

Raejean loved her family and friends with her whole heart. She loved and cherished her Savior and her relationships within her church. Her love for Ernest was wide and deep and she was grateful to have had such an incredible partner. She loved her fur babies. Her absence has not gone unnoticed by her family. We miss her daily and we loved her deeply. God be with you till we meet again, Raejean.
