Rae Sarah Morgan

Rae Sarah Morgan (82) passed away peacefully in her sleep January 15, 2024. She was born in Camden, New Jersey on September 24, 1941. In 1956, her family relocated to San Francisco, California from Newark, New Jersey. 

 

Rae went to Lincoln and Lowell High Schools in San Francisco, California. While in high school, she volunteered at the polo fields where she worked with horses. She was the oldest in her family and cared for and supported her siblings. 

 

She began a very long career at PAC Bell, and then moved on to AT&T where she retired. Rae was a well-liked and respected manager.

 

She raised three girls as a divorced single mom and was their super hero! In her free time, Rae loved to read books. She had hundreds of books. Her favorite genres were fantasy and science fiction. She loved animals, especially dogs and horses. She adored her dogs, from her first dog Zuzu to her black lab Banner. She also had a love and fascination for wolves. Rae also rescued an abandoned baby crow, who then became her pet that she named Raven. She collected cookbooks and loved to make family meals like her specialty spaghetti and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. She also took computer-programming classes at a nearby community college. She had a strong love for her family and she will be greatly missed. 

 

She was preceded in death by her mother Helen Hannah Davidson, father Clarence Charles Hogan, brother Kal Hogan, grandson Thomas Gavin Jr., and nephew Eric Hogan.

 

She is survived by her sister Avis Stafford (Jim), sister-in-law Patricia Hogan, daughters Diana Kern, Donna Shelby (Todd), Debbie Gavin (Tom), grandchildren: Andria Jannetti (Jason), Christopher Kern, Kira Shelby, Kristin Wall (Jake), Eric Shelby, Ashley Clark, and Sean Gavin. great grandchildren: McKailee Stevens, Raelee Stevens, Brynlee Stevens, Levi Wall, Tessa Wall, Ayden Williamson, Ethan Williamson, Madelyn Clark, Natalie Gavin. nieces: Gina Eaton ( Glenn), Chelsea Funderburk (Russell), and Cheryl Johnson (Dave), nephews: Russ Moreci and Eland Hogan ( Robin) great nephew Dixon Hogan.
