Phyllis Cooper Scoffield

December 20, 1929 — April 27, 2022

 

Phyllis Cooper “Phyl” Scoffield passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

 

She was born December 20, 1929 in Syracuse, Utah to Eli James and Katie Doman Cooper.

 

She graduated from Ogden High School and continued her education at Weber State College.

 

On October 2, 1957, Phyllis married Nathan M. Scoffield. They were married 60 years at the time of Nate’s passing on October 17, 2017.

 

Phyl grew up in Syracuse and Ogden and spent most of her adult life in Clearfield and Clinton. At the time of her passing, she was residing at Fairfield Village in Layton.

 

She worked at Dee Hospital, U.S. Forest Service, Internal Revenue Service, then moving on to the medical field for 20 years, after which she retired.

 

Phyl and Nate spent their retirement raveling to Oregon, Alaska, Mexico and Yuma, Arizona where they also owned a home and spent their winters there. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and sewing.

 

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Nate, son, Tracy, and her parents, Eli and Katie Cooper.  She is survived by her children, Reid (Shawna), Natalie (Brit), Heidi, brother, Glen (Lyla), 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, to be determined.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Fairfield Village, Angie with Encompass Hospice, her niece, Teri, as well as her special friend, June Frew.
