Pauline “Nona” Isadora Varaia Reza

 

Fruit Heights - Pauline “Nona” Isadora Varaia Reza, age 95, passed away March 7, 2022 surrounded by family. 

 

She was born July 20, 1926 in Breen, Colorado. The daughter of Guiseppi Varaia and Elizabeth Richiardi.

 

She grew up and was educated in the Durango Colorado and Kirtland New Mexico areas. She also attended BYU in Provo.

 

She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the French Mission from 1949 to 1951. She also served as a Stake Missionary in Utah, Washington D.C. and California.  In the church she also served as a counselor in the Stake Relief Society and as a primary teacher which she enjoyed immensely. 

 

She was a very talented and highly respected administrative assistant for Lehi Hospital, Chamber of Commerce of the United States in Washington D.C., and International Association of Chiefs of Police in Washington D.C.


She enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening, reading, writing, genealogy, and making yummy fudge. She loved preserving family history, sharing family stories and putting together books with pictures and information about family. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She always encouraged family and friends to do their best. She would often travel long distances to show her support. She was very loyal and dedicated to her faith and generous with her time. 

 

She is survived by her daughter, Varalyn Womack; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by five stepchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Guiseppi Varaia, husband Salvador Reza, sisters Edith Varaia, Angie Hamblin, Mary Evola, Rose Jenkins, Anna Taylor, brother Frank Varaia, and grandson Kardon and she has many friends who have been patiently waiting for her.

 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family Friday, March 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 19, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

 

Interment will follow services at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park,  4500 E Washington Blvd Ogden Utah. All are welcome.
