Patricia Helen Price Smith

November 28, 1939 — August 9, 2025

Patricia Helen Price Smith was born on November 28, 1939, in Glendale, California, to Patrick Harold Price and Helen Marie Thomas. She passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at Thatcher Brook Rehabilitation and Care Center in Clearfield, Utah.

At a young age, she saw her future sweetheart, Franklin Orville Smith, across the church courtyard and promptly told a friend she was going to marry him—even though they hadn’t even met (at the time, Frank still thought girls had cooties). In the years that followed, they became high school sweethearts. After Patricia’s graduation, they were married and sealed on September 27, 1957, in the Los Angeles Temple.

Following high school, Pat trained to become a medical assistant. While she never worked in the field professionally, her medical knowledge proved valuable throughout her life, benefiting her family and friends.

Pat had a brilliant and curious mind. She was always learning, with a keen interest in a wide range of topics including aerospace, physics, and music. She also expressed her creativity through art, working mostly in charcoal, with felines as her favorite subject. Her love of knowledge and her ability to engage in thoughtful conversation made her a joy to be around and an inspiration to those who knew her.

Pat was active in her community. She served as a Cub Scout den mother and chaired one of the Mental Health committees for the state of Utah, lobbying the legislature to improve understanding and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. She also worked with leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to further these efforts due to their interest in helping people.

She loved her family dearly, as well as her cats - even though she was allergic to them.

Pat is survived by her husband, Franklin O. Smith, her children, Diane Daley, Matthew O. Smith (Janet), and Brent O. Smith (Edith); five grandchildren, Charles F. Daley, M. Ammon Smith (Allison), Brianne Christensen (Brian), Alexandria Perkes, and Derek Smith; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Patrick H. Price (Charlotte). She was preceded in death by her daughter, Suzanne Rognon.
