Patricia Wright Hatch

January 29, 1942 ~ January 22, 2017

Patricia Wright Hatch passed away peacefully on January 22, 2017 at the age of 74. She was born in Washington, Missouri on January 29, 1942 to LeRoy and June Wright. She married her soulmate, Aaron Hatch on May 28, 1962 in the LDS Mesa, Arizona Temple.

Patty attended Hawthorne Elementary, Irving Junior High, and South High School in Salt Lake City. Her family moved to Arizona where she graduated from Hayden High School in 1960. She continued her education at Brigham Young University.

Patty spent her life joyfully in the service of others. Her qualities of tenderness, strength, and empathy laced with a determined fierceness, blessed all who knew her. She served as a PTA president and president of the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation. She also enjoyed a variety of church callings and found particular joy as a Primary Chorister, Stake Girls' Camp Director, and Regional YW President for the handicapped mutual. Patty spent much of her time on earth loving and supporting her family. As the consummate matriarch, she ensured all her children were well fed, well loved, well read, well educated, and well hugged. She filled our home with music and laughter. Her legacy of wisdom and wit will be missed. Patty had a unique way of making all around her welcome.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Aaron; her children, Kim (Eric) Irvine, Jeff (Julie), Chris (Audrey), Michael (Patti), Michelle (Mark) Ward, Rebecca (Adam) Osthed, Daniel (Kira), and Julie; 29 grandchildren; four brothers, Kit (Carol), Peter (Becky), Lauren (Debra), and Scott (Lisa); and three sisters; Karen (LaVoy) Robison, Kathy (Karl - deceased) Hess , Sharolyn (John) Starrs.

We express our heartfelt thanks to Jen, Patty’s nurse and the rest of the hospice staff for their untiring love and compassion.
