Patricia Price Hansen
Patricia Price Hansen slipped the bonds of her ailing body today, Thursday the 15th of March, 2012 and rejoined her beloved husband, Karl. Just as she always stood at her door waving to us as we drove off after a visit, so we now stand and wave a farewell to her, knowing that this isn''t, "Goodbye", but only, "So long for now".
Pat''s passion for family history and temple work ensures that grateful and loving ancestors will welcome her with open arms. In addition to genealogy, Pat also had a passion for sports (BYU and the Utah Jazz), music (singing and piano playing), Wendover trips, piecing quilts, hosting family parties, eating out for lunch, cooking, doing puzzles, and playing Nintendo (Mario and Donkey-Kong). She will be remembered for the sense of humor she shared with her sister, Donna; her recipes, her mug collection, her abilities as a seamstress, and her never-failing birthday cards. Perhaps the greatest gift that Pat has bequeathed to her family is a legacy of quiet faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ a" a simple and constant testimony.
Patricia was born February 18, 1936 in Salt Lake City to Walter Price and LaVon Froisland. She married her eternal companion, Karl Hansen, in the Salt Lake Temple on October 1, 1953 and spent the next 47 years of married life setting a good example for their 7 children, 37 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. During these years Pat served her LDS ward in many callings including Relief Society President and YW President (twice) a" always being willing to serve wherever and whenever asked. Pat frequently shared her talented alto voice in church meetings and passed this love of performing sacred vocal music onto her 4 oldest sons.
Since Karl''s passing, Pat enjoyed spending time with family at Christmas and summer gatherings; taking a cruise with her sister Donna (her partner in crime); visiting Vegas with David and Donna; lunches with the girls; and opening her house and heart to beloved grandkids.
Pat is survived by her children: Kenyon (Jaima), Kelly (Arlinda), Korey (Karla), Kerry, Kristy (Korman), Curtis (Lorrie), and Kay (Steve); and by her sister, Donna Packer and brother, David Price (Marcia). She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl, and her parents, Walter and LaVon.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Layton Stake Central Ward, 60 W. Gordon Ave. Friends may visit with family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road and on Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
