Pamela Jean Christensen Talbot passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, May 29, 2025 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Pam was born on December 5, 1952, in Salt Lake City, to Orsen Reuben Christensen, Jr. and Ellen LaVon Torgerson. Pam grew up in Utah and Arizona, but her family finally settled in Layton, Utah in her senior year at Davis High School, from which she graduated in 1971. Following that she attended and graduated from Weber State College.
At a roller-skating activity for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint YSA ward she attended, Pam met and fell in love with Terry Talbot and after just two weeks of dating they were engaged and married six months later on March 19, 1976. Pam and Terry lived in a small house in Layton off Hill Field Road for a short time before buying a home in Kaysville, Utah where they raised their family of four kids.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served faithfully wherever she was called. However, she spent nearly her whole life serving in Primary as a nursery leader, teacher, even a Stake Nursery Leader. While she had a short stint teaching Sunday School and as a Young Women’s coach for basketball and volleyball, she seemed to always find herself back in Primary. Even at the very end she was serving as a permanent sub for Primary. The truth of the matter is that Pam loved children! She was happiest working with kids and helping them learn the Gospel.
Pam loved to serve others and was always finding ways to help those around her from babysitting neighbors and family to acts of secret service like doing the 12 Days of Christmas for someone in need even if her own family’s Christmas was small. She always had a kind word for anyone she met and tried in any way she could to brighten their day before she left. She never wanted to be a burden to anyone else but was more than happy to help everyone else.
Her love for children and education carried over to her chosen career as a substitute teacher for the Davis School District where she subbed in various elementary schools for over 28 years. It also showed in her love for her 13 grandchildren. Pam had many hobbies including reading, cross-
stitching, crocheting, and cooking, but her biggest hobby was her grandkids. She loved each of them with her whole heart and always had something to give them from an activity book of sorts to a craft they could do, to their favorite treat. They were the light of her life, and she was so proud of each of them and their accomplishments and interests. She always made it a point to tell whomever she was talking to all about what each of her grandkids was up to. She loved spending time with them and couldn’t wait to go on the next adventure with them whether it be to the zoo, a museum, for a walk in the mountains, attending a soccer game, school play or program, concert, recital, or reading them a story, or playing a board game. She absolutely adored each one and loved to share as much time as she could with them.
Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Kevin Christensen, and a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Talbot. She is survived by her husband, Terry Talbot, four children, Abbeygail (Benjamin) Strong, Nathaniel Talbot, David (Nicole) Talbot, and Christopher (Stefanie) Talbot, and13 grandchildren – Brayden, Baylor, Carson, Cambrie, Collin, Kyason, Landon, Connor, Mckenna, Avery, Chandler, Stockton, and Benson. As well as her siblings, Bruce Christensen, Shauna (Joe) Hurst, Tracy (Kevan) Jacobson, Gary (Annie) Christensen, and Ruthann (Brad) Groneman. She will be greatly missed, but we know she is not gone, just gone on ahead.
Special thanks to the staff at Utah Hematology and Oncology for their gentle care of Pam over the last couple of years as well as IHC Layton Cancer Center advocate and Dr. Tricia Ferrin of Tanner Clinic and Austin Bennion of Ogden Urology Clinic as well as the Hospice nurses and staff at CNS. And thank you to the many neighbors, friends and family members who cheered her up, sat with her and listened or simply let her know you were cheering her on. We couldn’t have made it as far as we did without your help and care. Thank you!
