Listen to Obituary

Pamela Ann Sevy Ray was born on June 29, 1949, in Elko, Nevada, to Norman and Beth Sevy. She later moved to Utah, where she graduated from Ben Lomond High School.

Pam was an amazingly smart, talented, and funny woman with a huge heart. She believed deeply that every child deserved a strong education and dedicated her life to teaching and serving children she loved. Pamela taught at Bates Elementary, Lakeview Elementary, and the Utah School for the Deaf and the Blind before retiring. She helped countless students who were struggling to graduate by assisting them in earning credits and passing their classes.

She had a remarkable gift for math and dates. You could give her a date 30 years in the future, and within seconds she could tell you what day of the week it would fall on.

Pam loved all of her children, but her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She beamed with happiness whenever she saw them, spoke to them, or spoke of them. She would drop anything just to spend time with them and make them smile. Her grandchildren were her greatest gift from God, and she cherished every moment she spent with them.

Pam enjoyed her dogs, gardening, crossword puzzles, crocheting, puzzles, and shopping. Each year she crocheted hats and scarves for local homeless shelters, wanting those who received them to feel a small hug from her that they could tuck away in their pocket. She loved telling jokes, especially her favorite: Why is six afraid of seven? Because seven eight nine. She laughed so hard at this joke every time. Her laugh was unique and contagious, making everyone around her laugh along with her.

Pam was a devoted member to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings throughout her life, but her favorite was being a Sunbeam Teacher. She treasured the opportunity to teach young children about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father.

Pamela was married twice. Her first marriage was to Robert Owen Hobbs, with whom she had four daughters, three of whom survive her. After divorcing, she later met and married Gregory Anthony Ray. Greg had three children from his previous marriage, and together they had two sons, bringing their family to eight children. They purchased a home in Ogden, where they lived for 26 years before divorcing. Pamela later moved to Clinton to help care for her parents and lived there for the past 20 years.

Pamela is survived by her children, Robin May Hauser, Beth Anne Brown, Dawnnae Ruth Neilson, Jonathan Benjamin (Jen) Ray, Joshua Norman (Camiliea) Ray, Mark Ray, Glenn (Elysabeth) Ray, and Beckie (Lance) Eastman; grandchildren, Emilee, William, Logan, Norman, Kendra, Erin, Sydney, Julie, Amanda, Kylie, Edwin, Brooklyn, Addison, Orion, London, Alijah, Cyrus, Tess, Caiden, and Boston; great-grandchildren, Claira, Freyja, Cassie, and Finley,

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Hobbs; grandson, Matthew Eastman; her parents, Norman and Beth Sevy; her brother, David Sevy; and nephew, Shane Foley.
