Pamela Critchlow, a vibrant soul whose laughter and light filled every room she entered, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 11, 2026, at her cherished home in North Ogden. Born on November 14, 1955, the stork brought a bouncing baby girl into the world to Diane Garbey in Ogden, Utah — a girl who would grow to be as tenacious as she was tenderhearted.
From the very start, Pamela’s presence was unforgettable. Graduating from Ogden High in the class of 1974, she embraced life with a mischievous spirit and an assertive charm that often manifested in her legendary tardiness. She was famously late to nearly everything, even her own wedding to Barton Critchlow on September 18, 1976, a quirk that friends and family both loved and teased her about. Her humor turned those exasperating moments into stories that would echo with laughter for years, and there remains a whimsical rumor that even at her own funeral, she might be fashionably late.
Professionally, Pamela’s diligent nature shone through her work as a bookkeeper and office manager across various ventures. Many knew her best for her more than fifteen years as a jeweler at Zales, where her attention to detail and warm customer rapport made her a beloved figure. While working at Zales, she met the love of her life Bart. Yet, beyond the ledger books and sparkling gems, she found her greatest pride and joy in her son, Blake “Spud” Critchlow. Her love for him was boundless and unwavering; a maternal devotion that defined much of her life’s purpose.
Pam and Bart did everything together that mattered; any spare moment was with each other. After 26 years of marriage, they only had “one disagreement.” They loved to go fishing together anywhere and everywhere. They loved camping at Lake Powell. They were each other’s favorite people. When Bart died in 2002, the brightest part of her life went with him.
Pamela’s delightful personality was a blend of stubbornness and kindness, leaving a mark on everyone she encountered. She had a zest for the holidays—Halloween and Christmas were her absolute favorites—where she showcased her exceptional cooking talents, filling her home with warmth and the aroma of festive feasts prepared lovingly for family and friends.
The tapestry of Pamela’s life is rich with vivid memories and quirky tales. Friends recall moments of playful childhood antics, chasing her sister with worms around the house, creating imaginative adventures, and a mischievous streak that sometimes tested her older sister Diane “Mouse” Wheeler’s patience—though their bond remained tight and enduring. These stories speak of a woman who lived life fully, with humor, warmth, and a spirit that defied dullness.
Pamela is survived by her devoted son, Blake; and her sister, Mouse, who continue to cherish her memory and celebrate the indelible imprint she left on their lives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bart; and her momma, Diane, whose legacies live on through her.
As we remember Pamela, we recall not only a woman who was stoic and steadfast in her convictions but also a beacon of joy who could brighten the darkest day with her smile. Her slow, steady presence will be profoundly missed yet forever treasured in the hearts of those who loved her. Though she may have been fashionably late to this final farewell, Pamela’s spirit will eternally shine as a jewel in the lives she touched.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary.
