Orville Jay Tucker

August 16, 1943 — September 27, 2024

West Haven

Orville Jay Tucker (known as Jay), born on August 16, 1943, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024.

Jay grew up in Clawson, Utah and graduated from Granger High School in 1961. He worked at Hill Air Force Base as a programmer for 35 years, retiring in 1998.

Jay met Linda in 1967 at an Everly Brothers concert at Lagoon—it was love at first sight. They married in April 1968 and were later sealed in the Ogden Temple in 1981. They have lived in now West Haven for 53 years.

Jay and Linda loved the outdoors. Their early camper became a houseboat in Lake Powell then became a cabin in Island Park ID. They enjoyed snowmobiling and took many trips with friends to Yellowstone and nearby Utah trails with the snowmobiles.

Jay was a devoted sports spectator. He and Linda had season tickets to Weber State Basketball games for 26 years. He was a Denver Broncos fan since he was 13 and they were both Utah Jazz fans since the Jazz came to Utah. They enjoyed watching any and all games together.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a clerk and part of the activities committee for many years.

Family was important to Jay, and he stayed close to his brothers and sisters. He is survived by wife Linda Kay Tucker, daughter Michelle (Ron) Giovo and son Bryan (Jill) Tucker, grandchildren Jacquelyn (Jake) Rodden, Tucker Giovo, Wesley Giovo, Damien (Cassidy) Tucker, and Kylie (Austyn) Larsen, two adoring great-grandchildren, brother DeeVoy (Marion) Tucker, and sisters Ellene Fairborne, Wanda (Scott) Fisher, and Kathy (Glen) Garland.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wesley and LaVon Tucker, sister Lanore Tucker, and brother Ray Tucker.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
