Norma Jean Wiese Hawkins

May 6, 1932 — August 21, 2025

Norma Jean Wiese Hawkins passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on August 21, 2025. She was born in Ogden, Utah, on May 6, 1932, to Carl Harvey and Mary Cheshire Wiese and lived a full and beautiful 93 years.

A healthy lifestyle was always a priority for Norma, allowing her to live 93 wonderful years and to lovingly care for her husband of 74 years, Walter “Dick” Hawkins, along with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She fought a courageous battle with breast cancer before peacefully returning to her Heavenly Father.

Norma married Dick in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1951, and together they built an incredible life filled with faith, family, and adventure. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings and was known for her kindness and generosity.

She cherished time with her family—whether camping in Yellowstone, spending winters in Arizona with Dick in their motorhome, or simply being surrounded by those she loved.

An avid golfer, Norma played in the Women’s Association at the Ogden Golf and Country Club for many years and was proud to win the Women’s Senior Championship at Swan Valley Golf Course in 2008.

She worked as a Computer Operator at the Ogden Defense Depot, where she formed many lasting friendships before retiring after 35 years of dedicated service.

Norma had a passion for flowers and gardening. Her green thumb kept her home and yard filled with beauty, and she took great joy in nurturing every plant she touched.

Norma is survived by her husband, Walter R. “Dick” Hawkins; children, Linda K. (Brian) Gladwell, Brad L. (Laurie) Hawkins, and James L. (Michelle) Hawkins; brother, Glen J. (Kay) Wiese; as well as 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Harvey and Mary Cheshire Wiese;

her sister, Lavon Wiese Land; and brother, Carl Ray Wiese.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Intermountain Hospice Care for their exceptional care and to Melie Lahouli and her team for their kindness and compassion during Norma’s final days.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
