Ned Christian Hansen 1920 a€" 2012

Our wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend passed away at home on March 14, 2012. He was 91. He was born in Brigham City, Utah on March 29, 1920 to Varnick and Birdie Hansen. He married his sweetheart Gayle Weaver from Perry, Utah in the LDS Logan Temple March 12, 1942.

Ned was a World War II veteran. He spent three years in North Africa and Italy where he served in the Army Air Corp as part of what has become known as the "Greatest Generation".

He loved his country and kept a flag flying at the cabin that he and his sons built in Alta, Wyoming. The cabin was one of the joys of his life and provided many happy memories for he and his family.

Ned willingly served in many callings in the LDS church, including much welfare work. His greatest love was serving his family. He was a kind, gentle and patient husband and father who showed his love in so many ways. He was once voted "Father of the Year" by the Ogden Chamber of Commerce.

He spent 35 years working for the Singer Sewing Machine Co.

Ned will be missed by many, his loving wife Gayle, their four children and spouses: Jolene (Craig) Cooley, Trent (Sherrie) Hansen, Christene (Blake) Wayment, and Tracy (Karen) Hansen; his 28 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren; and a sister Doris Kotter. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

Ned and Gayle had the joy of celebrating their 70th Wedding Anniversary two days prior to his passing. His positive attitude was an inspiration. He would want us all to "Carry On" and try to make our days "Terrific".

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 11th Ward Chapel, 2250 N. Fruitland Dr. Friends may visit family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
