Naomi Vaun Knaphus Clifford

March 4, 1929 — April 21, 2023

Naomi Vaun Knaphus Clifford, age 94, passed away peacefully at her home, with her family by her side, after a short illness. She was born in Richfield, Utah on March 4, 1929, to Andrew Larsen Knaphus and Myrtle Christine Christensen. She was the tenth of twelve children. She grew up during the depression and learned the value of hard work. She graduated from Richfield High School in 1948 and later that same year attended BYU, where she was a Cougarette.

On November 15, 1948, Naomi married Warren “Buck” Buchanan Clifford in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on June 26, 1950. They were blessed with five children, 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Mom always said the best thing she ever did was to be a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Throughout her life, she worked in many jobs, but her real life’s work and greatest joy was her family.

Naomi was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many capacities, including Relief Society President.

Mom was beautiful, classy, forever young, kind, humble, talented, had a cute sense of humor, and a contagious smile. She brightened every room she walked in, gave the best hugs, was a gracious hostess, made everyone feel welcome and important, showed love to everyone she met, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Mom and Dad traveled extensively and spent many years wintering in Sun City, Arizona where she enjoyed ballroom dancing, ceramics, billiards, and other activities.

For the past six years, Mom lived at Treeo Senior Living in South Ogden where she enjoyed playing Pinochle with her many friends.

Naomi is survived by her children, Doug (Denise), Blaine (Melanie), Mary Taylor (Lenn), Susan Chrisman (Pat), and Rob (Peg); and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and all of her siblings and their spouses.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond 10th Ward Chapel, 3350 North 1050 East, North Ogden, Utah 84414.
