It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Peninah Freer Stauffer on March 7, 2026, at the age of 73, in Ogden, Utah. She was born on February 10, 1953, in Ogden, Utah, to Reed P. and Freda M. Rudd Freer. She grew up in Washington Terrace, Utah, graduating from Bonneville High Class of 1971.

Nancy was a pillar of love and unwavering dedication to her family. A devoted employee for 30 years at Weber State University, she was a cherished colleague and friend to many.

Her life outside of work was filled with the simple joys she loved most: fishing and camping in the great outdoors, cooking wonderful meals that brought her family together, and maintaining a warm and orderly home where all felt welcome. Nancy was married to J. Bruce Padelsky and had two sons, later divorced.

Above all, her deepest commitment was to her beloved husband, Wayne Dean Stauffer, with whom she shared a life of unwavering companionship and love. Nancy's greatest happiness was her family. She was a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and a proud great-grandmother who treasured every moment she had with her loved ones.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Wayne Stauffer; her children, Brian Padelsky, Ryan (Cheryl) Stauffer, Clinton Padelsky, and Stephanie (Ross) Eggett; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Mary (Jerry) Freer Vance and Alan Freer; sisters-in-law, Patti Stauffer Seaver, Jovonna Lucas (Tim) Eaton, Susan Pace Stauffer, and Celeste Wilson; brother-in-law, Jason (Melanie) Stauffer; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Nancy's strength, warmth, and steadfast devotion to her family have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed.

In keeping with her wishes, the family will honor her memory in a celebration of her life at a later date. To be determined.

“Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day.”
