Nancy Ence Peterson, 80, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, in her home in Fruit Heights, Utah.
Nancy was born on March 28, 1945, in Salt Lake City, to Kendall and Robena Ence. She graduated with straight A’s from Davis High School, and attended Brigham Young University. She was a homemaker and at various times a librarian and substitute teacher at various levels.
Nancy valued her family and faith above all else and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an avid traveler and reader, and loved sewing, baking, and writing (short stories, poems, scripts). She particularly loved spending time sharing these talents with her children and grandchildren in her ‘treehouse’ home in Fruit Heights.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Dee, whom she married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 11, 1964, her son, David, and her sister, Rebecca.
She is survived by four of her children: Brennan (Suzanne), Greg (Carolyn), Trent (Genevieve), Victoria (Rud). She is also survived by her brothers, Bart (Chris), Russell (Susan), Brian (Christine), her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Al, Linda and Marie, her 15 grandchildren and 1.5 great-grandson.
Nancy always said she didn’t want to have a funeral…” Why would anyone want a funeral? They’re sad and depressing. I’d like to have a FUNeral. Where everyone gathers to tell fun stories with laughter and joking.”
Nancy’s Celebration of life and “FUNeral” will be held on Saturday February 21, 2026, at 11:00 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 77 South Orchard Drive, Fruit Heights, Utah. Friends may visit with family prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, Nancy requested that donations be made to the general missionary fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
