Mitchell, 66, passed away on April 29, 2016 surrounded by family at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living Generations Memory Care Unit.

Mitchell was born on November 12, 1949 to Hugh and Bernie Murphy in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from William Crisman High School in 1967. Following high school, he served as a medic in the Navy where he learned his skills to work as an OR Tech, and later earned his Associate Degree from Weber State College. In 1980, he moved to Ogden to work at St. Benedict’s Hospital (Ogden Regional Medical Center) as an OR Tech until his retirement in 2013.

Mitchell loved his family, the Utah Mountains, hiking, camping, photography and his work. He married his wife, Mary on October 10, 1981 at Ogden Japanese Christian Church and raised two wonderful children.

He is survived by his wife Mary; son, Kiel Murphy; daughter, Carla Murphy; mother, Bernie Ziegler; brother, John Murphy; sister, Diane Murphy; step-brother, Guy Ziegler; niece, Allison (Patrick) McFarland and her two children; and sister-in-law, Linda Sugimoto. He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Murphy; brother, Daniel; step-father, Frank Ziegler; several aunts and uncles; father and mother-in-law, Ray and Jennie Sugimoto; and brother-in-law, Louis Sugimoto.

Memorial Services will be held on June 4, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Ogden Christian Church, 580 23rd St. for friends and family. Services will be officiated by Rev. Bob Nakaoka.

Mitchell’s family would like to thank Dr. Grace Obrien, Dr. Wayment, Dr. Forstall and Utah Cardiology, Specialty Nursing, South Davis Hospice, Visiting Angels, Lori Gordon and the OR team at Ogden Regional, and the staff of Mountain Ridge for their love, care, and support.
