Mildred Saunders Mathie

Mildred Saunders Mathie, 91, passed away in St. George, Utah on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. She was born on August 21, 1920 the 11th of 12 children of Joseph William and Ella Louise Ferrin Saunders in Harrisville. She was the last survivor of her generation.

She married Gail Vern Mathie in Ogden in July 1938. They were divorced in 1961.

Mildred enjoyed traveling, made beautiful handiwork like quilts and crocheting, and loved going to Wendover. She lived for her family and was always there to support her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by her son, Gary Vern (Carole DePierro) Mathie, Tooele; daughters, Sheran (Hugh) Sacco, Uintah; and Shirley Comeau, Hurricane; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 8 A½ great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, and 5 sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
