Michael Lee Herbert

Michael Lee Herbert, 64, of Laguna Niguel, CA passed away peacefully January 5, 2012 in Salt Lake City, UT.

Mike was born January 22, 1947 to Melvin and Mary Herbert, in Pasadena, CA. Mike grew up in West Covina, CA where he graduated from West Covina High. After high school he served a mission to the Northern States, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

After returning home from his mission he continued his education at Ricks College, in Rexburg, ID, where he received an Associate''s Degree in Math.

While attending Rick''s, Mike met Susan Lind. The two dated for a year and a half and were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple, August 1, 1970. They resided in California for the next 10 years while he worked as a computer technician. While in California, Mike and Susan welcomed four children into their family; Aaron, Kristie, Todd and Vickie. In 1980, shortly after the birth of their last child they moved their family to Salt Lake City, UT. Mike enjoyed serving in the Church and held various callings from ward clerk to Cub Scout Master. Mike and Susan later divorced in 1985 after which he returned back to California.

Mike worked for Kingston Technology for over 10 years where he developed many lifelong friendships.

Mike enjoyed playing softball and was an avid bowler playing on many different leagues throughout the years. He also loved attending and watching baseball, basketball and football games. Mike also enjoyed music, playing the piano, Pez candy, Orange Tic Tacs, and vanilla shakes.

Mike is survived by his four children: Aaron, Stansbury Park, Utah; Kristie (Trevin) Workman, Wellsville, Utah; Todd (Alisa), Spanish Fork, Utah; Vickie (Josh) Christensen, Draper, Utah; and eight grandchildren. As well as his parents and siblings: Glenn (Vicki), California; Laura (Wayne) Ellis, California; Rod (Diane), Arizona; Becky (Joe) Haggard, Utah; Greg, California; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his little sister Sharlinda.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Church, 303 West 3790 North, Provo. Friends may visit family on Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
