Merlin "Paul" Biorn

August 7, 1932 — July 9, 2023

Merlin “Paul” Biorn, 90, was reunited in death with his wife of nearly 41 years on July 9, 2023. A man of few words (unless he had something to say), he lived a very full life, was loved by and will be missed by his family and friends left behind.

Paul, as most everyone knew him by, joined the US Air Force 3 months after graduation and proceeded to travel to numerous countries during his 27 years total in the US Air Force as a Small Arms Mechanic and US Navy as an Aviation Storekeeper. He is an honorable Korean War veteran. He was stationed in many exotic locations, including Italy, Mexico, North Africa, Canada, and Okinawa Japan. He retired from the US Navy Reserves in January 1990. During his 27 years in the armed forces, Paul built his family of 10 children and stepchildren, met and married his wife in 1982, and had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Paul’s adventures and exploits were not limited to his military service. He began collecting more John Wayne memorabilia than John Wayne himself, visiting Elvis’s home while he napped, saw Liberace’s colorful driveway, watched Jackie Robinson accepted into the Dodgers, he had a love of bowling and even became a bowling champ and continued to bowl until into his 80’s, loved reading western romance (dicey) novels, and you could always find him watching the old Western TV shows like Gunsmoke and Bonanza or, depending on the season, a good football, basketball, or baseball game on the tube while enjoying a cocktail of Jim Beam and possibly puffing on his favorite pipe. Paul had also begun painting ceramics and “chasing the ladies”.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Terry Lee Holmes Biorn, his parents David Biorn and Bertha Holden Biorn, and his sons Bradley Biorn and James Timmons.

Paul is survived by his son Robert (Melissa) Cagle and their children, daughters Teresa Biorn (Mark) Feliczak and their daughter Heidi Feliczak, April (Mike) Paterson and her children and grandchildren, Tawnya Glidewell and her children and grandchildren, Lisa Marie (Robert Hensel) and her daughters, Haley M. Biorn and Shanna C. Carpenter (her daughter Payton Carpenter), and son Dontray L. (Samantha Stanich) Carpenter, Paula Wilson (Shane) and their daughter Chelsey Burton and their son Colin (Aubrey) Wilson, as well as numerous other family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Thank you, friends and family, for all of your support; Thank you to Chancellor Gardens for your love and care.
