Melvin Frank Steab

March 28, 1953 — April 24, 2024

On April 24, 2024, our dear brother, Melvin Frank Steab, returned to his Heavenly Home. The son of Harold Frank Steab and Emma Lois Morrill, he was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 28, 1953.

At the age of 5, Melvin contracted Encephalitis. A prolonged high fever from this caused damage to his brain and he became handicapped. He lived with his family in Kaysville, Utah to the age of 18 and attended Special Education. He then moved into group homes in Provo and Orem, Utah where he was employed with various jobs and was also involved in after work programs. Later in life he was moved to a group home in Ogden and then finally to the FTC Hobbs House in Layton, Utah where he was blessed with the best of staff and friends.

Melvin loved movies about Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. He loved wearing his coonskin hat. He also loved comic book heroes Superman, Batman, Ironman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman and Captain America. He also loved Christmas and his child like belief in Santa Claus will be missed by his family. Some of the other things he enjoyed were coloring in coloring books and blowing bubbles.

Melvin was a gift from our Heavenly Father which helped us gain patience, love and endurance. He was loved by all who came to know him.

Melvin is survived by his Sister: Laura J. Goode, and Brothers: Curtis, (Janeen), Ken (Suzanne), John, Dave (Jean). He was preceded in death by his Father: Harold, Mother: Lois, and Brother: Mark Steab.
