Max W. Petersen OGDEN – Max W. Petersen, 85, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007, at his home. Max was born March 2, 1922, in Provo, Utah. He was the fifth child in a family of six born to Orson H. and Louise Mathiesen Petersen. He attended Ogden High School and Weber State University. On May 21, 1947, he married Wanda Adams in the Salt Lake Temple. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary two days after his passing. Max served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for five years during World War II. He was employed at Hill Air Force Base in the Data Processing Division. At the time of his retirement in March of 1979, he was the Manager of Computer Operations at the base. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of America First Credit Union for 31 years; eight years as chairman or vice chairman. Max assisted in organizing the first World War II American Legion Post in Ogden, Utah. He organized the Utah Chapter of the National Machine Accountants Association, and served as an officer of the Hill Air Force Base Administrative Club. Max was a member of the Waterfall Canyon Ward in the Ogden, Utah, East Stake. He served in many capacities such as Elders Quorum President, Stake MIA President, Finance Clerk and Ward Clerk. For more than 50 years, Max enjoyed spending summers at Bear Lake. Max has been reunited with his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of Ogden; his three children, Diane (Ken) Hoyal of Ogden; Michael (Cindy) Petersen of Layton; and Lori (Hal) Hayman of Ogden; his grandchildren, Justin, Mark, Emily, Michelle, James, Casey and Tanya; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Drew Petersen, and his sister, Dorothy Jones. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded.
