Maurice “Brent” Jex

March 6, 1937 ~ February 12, 2022

Maurice Brent Jex, 84, a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa passed away on February 12, 2022. He was born on March 6, 1937 to Myrtel L. Sisam and Maurice Wooden Jex. Brent grew up in South Salt Lake, UT attending Granite High School before pursuing a career in carpet installation.

In July 1959, he married Patsy Schultz having three children, Rodney, Raymond, and Lori. They later divorced. In October 1979, he married Joy Lundquist gaining three stepchildren, Mark, Lisa, and Robyn. Brent and Joy enjoyed 40 years of love and laughter before she preceded him in death in September 2020.

Brent’s career was carpet installation, but his passion was for restoring antique cars with his pride and joy being his grandmother’s 56 Ford Fairlane, which she won for a dollar in a raffle. Besides his love of cars, he looked forward to volunteering with the Ogden Pioneer Days Parade Committee, car shows, traveling with Joy, Friday nights at Maddox’s, breakfasts at Jeremiah’s Restaurant, sitting under the tree with Joy, Fox News, and a good cold Coke.

He loved his family and cherished time spent with them. He especially loved walks with his great-grandson, Wylder.

We would like to thank the wonderful nurses and CNAs at McKay Dee Hospital who tenderly cared for our dad these last few days.

Brent is survived by his children, Rodney (Becky) Jex and Lori (Brian) Hall; stepdaughters, Lisa Berlin, Robyn (Scott) Zellmer; and brother, Darrell Jex.  He also leaves behind a legacy of 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Jex; son, Raymond C. Jex; stepson, Mark Lundquist; sisters, Charlene Luing and Janice Hickok; and both his parents.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
