Matthew Vanderhoof

Matthew Ed Vanderhoof, 50, beloved father, son, uncle, and friend passed away on June 3, 2016.  He was born September 18, 1965 in Ogden, Utah to Olean E. Vanderhoof and Karen Homer.  He is survived by his father, mother, and children - Vanessa, Jake, and Quinten. He is also survived by his brother - Brett and sisters - Sabrina Kvavle, Valerie Shumway, and Kayla Vigil.

He met and married Debbie Ipaktchian on July 10, 1987 and they were recently divorced.  Matt graduated from Weber State University with an engineering degree. He was employed by Autoliv in Brigham City for most of his career.  Matt was everyone's "handy man". As a young boy he would tear his dad's lawn mower apart and put it right back together, and that was just the beginning of his passion to build, create, and innovate. From Automotive to computers, - he could do anything. Spending time with his family camping, fishing, shooting, riding dirt bikes and four wheelers were a huge part of his life, but his biggest passion was hunting - especially with his sons. He would spend countless days and months mapping out areas and strategies to find and get the next "big kill". The vastness of the mountains was simply his utopia.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.  The family will meet with friends and relatives from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm at the mortuary.
