Mary Kathryn Clark

November 12, 1954 — October 4, 2023

Mary Kathryn "MaryKay" Clark, 68, of Ogden, Utah, passed away on October 4, 2023, in McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden surrounded by her family and her “guiding Angel” Esme. She was born on November 12, 1954, in Ogden, Utah.

MaryKay had an infectious laugh and a tremendous sense of humor. She showed such skill and empathy in tending to her patients. She had an infinite attraction to all living things, adventure, travel, fabulous food, and libations. She was an avid skier, a lover of Lake Powell, and loved all things related to the Science of Medicine. Of all the places she traveled and called home, she had a special connection with San Diego. Her heart lived and will continue to live on in San Diego.

MaryKay graduated with a Masters of Physician Assistance Studies from the University of Utah in 1996. She advocated for holistic patient care throughout her career, amidst the challenges of the ever-changing medical field.

MaryKay married Ranauld Dugan Rees in 1986, and they welcomed their only child together, Dugan, in 1988. Despite MaryKay and Randy’s eventual divorce, they reconnected and repaired their relationship. They became supportive friends and were in frequent communication prior to her death.

MaryKay's favorite activity was taking her beloved Shiba Inu’s, Mei Mei, Johnny, and Claire, on walks while on Instagram Live. She enjoyed connecting with those she loved, sharing her daily adventures. She had a love of music and impeccable rhythm, and connected to the spiritual side via music and nature. MaryKay was a fantastic cook and had a refined pallet. We all have memories gathered around a table partaking in the flavors she brought together, as well as many a nights sitting in a hot tub and hearing her opinion on just about anything and everything.

MaryKay is survived by her son, Dugan Richard Rees, who is committed to carrying on her love of music; her sister, Patricia Clark Millar; nieces, Jennifer (Millar) Bevan (Brandon Bevan), Carrie (Millar) Bott (Bradley Bott), and Sesily (Clark) Lee (Trent Lee), and nephews, Richard S. Clark III (Annie), DJ Millar (Kaylee), and Sean Michael Clark. Scott Bork, a son from another mother, her “adopted son,” stepped in and cared for her and her Shibas in times of her deteriorating health. Scott will be fathering MaryKay’s fur babies.

MaryKay loved every single one of her grand nieces and nephews and following their individual endeavors. She was their biggest cheerleader and helped them with their Biology, Chemistry, and Physics homework. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Richard S. Clark, mother, Carolyn Moore Clark, and brother, Richard S. Clark II.

Family will be celebrating her life at a private event. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah 84401.

MaryKay will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of compassion and dedication to patient care will continue to inspire those in the medical field. May her soul rest in eternal peace… “And another one.”
