Mary Webster Cook, 97, of Layton Utah, died August 25, 2023. She was born June 7, 1926 in Kaysville, Utah to Wilford H. and Julia B. Webster. She married John B. Cook on December 6, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mary graduated from Davis High School in 1944. She then attended Utah State University and graduated from Floral Design School in Fullerton, California. Mary worked in the floral business for 25 years and loved using her talent of floral arranging to bless others.
Mary was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. Mary served a full time mission in the Eastern Canadian Mission from June 1949 to March 1951. She and her husband John served an International Mission to Israel as special representatives for the Church from May of 1981 to October of 1982. They also served together as guides on Temple Square. Mary served in many church callings including President of Young Women, Relief Society, and Primary.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was faithfully devoted to her family, church, and community. Mary found joy in serving her family and many friends. Mary was known for her delicious pies, cookies, and candies. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, a literacy tutor, and a founding member of the Belletristic Literary Club.
She is survived by her daughter Julie Taucher, brother Dee (Pauline) Webster, special niece Lesa (Tom) Page, granddaughters Melissa (Trevor) Denham, Megan (Kyle) Soules, cousin and best friend Itha Henry. She is also survived by seven great grandsons Cole Denham, Travis Denham, Dane Denham, Rider Denham, Ty Denham, MacArthur Soules, and Augustus Soules.
She is preceded in death by her eternal companion John, parents, and seven sisters Wanda, Irma, Marjorie, Afton, Dorothy, Beverly, JoAnn.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Friends may call Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 9 to 10:45 a.m.at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Kaysville City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to either the General Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or Primary Children’s Hospital.
