Martha Marie (Mabey) Lawson

Martha “Marie” Lawson returned home to her Heavenly Father, on August 12, 2025. She was born in Malad, Idaho, and grew up in Rexburg, Idaho.

Marie graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. After college, Marie enjoyed traveling for a while before settling in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Marie worked in the financial offices of The Flamingo Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. She later switched to The Plaza Hotel and Casino, where she spent the last 15 years as hotel controller. She made many friends in her 30-plus-year career.

Marie was a devoted wife and mother who treasured time with her family. She was a great fan of Disneyland and all things Disney, enjoying numerous family trips that brought her joy and created lasting memories. Her favorite ride was Pirates of the Caribbean. She loved spending a day at Disneyland Park and watching all the people having a great time.

Marie loved scrap-booking and being creative in her craft room. We had set up a craft room in the house for her to work in, where she spent countless hours. She was always creating something for every holiday or occasion. She would often surprise people with her latest creation.

Marie loved books, movies and music. She would find comfort in reading a book, listening to music or simply watching a Harry Potter movie.

She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her strength, her determination, and her love for those around her.

Marie is survived by her husband, Michael J. Lawson; son, Michael Tyler Lawson; her sister, Melissa Ann (Mabey) Tenny; her brother, Orson Henry Mabey III; and her many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary located at 727 N. 400 E., Bountiful, Utah on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Bountiful Memorial Park (also known as Bountiful City Cemetery) at 11:00 a.m. located at 2224 S. 200 W. Bountiful, Utah.
