“Together Again"


Marjorie Catherine Forsgren, 94, passed away quietly in her sleep on Monday, April 25, 2016. She was born on Sunday, May 1, 1921 to parents, Lewis J. and Catherine McGhie in Loreburn, Saskatchewan, Canada.

She attended Teachers College in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, taught school in Canada for 5 years before she and her sister Marie, came to Ogden to visit a cousin. During that visit they both were recruited by the Superintendent of the Ogden City Schools to teach in Ogden. She loved teaching and spent the next 30 years teaching in Utah.  During her spring break, on April 21, 1949, she married Charles W. Forsgren and raised two sons.

She has been a member of the Rebekah Lodge since 1945, was President of the Rebekah Assembly of Utah in 1995 and was appointed as Chaplin of the Uniformed Branch of Rebekahs and Oddfellows where she traveled to Washington DC and gave the dedication at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on May 6, 2001. Marjorie has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ogden since 1947.

Marjorie is survived by her sister, Mildred (Larry K.) Hardy of Seattle WA; two sons, Garry L. (Susan) Forsgren of WVC and Terry C. (Carri) Forsgren of Ogden; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Catherine McGhie; her husband, Charles W. Forsgren; her sister, Marie Sommers; two brothers, James and Robert Mcghie; and her grandson, Dustin Forsgren.

Marjorie will always be loved and remembered by those that came to know her.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 880 28th St., Ogden.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
