Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Lovina Marjane Jorgensen Vaughn — known to all who loved her as Marjane — passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Ogden, Utah, on May 8, 2026, at the age of 92.
Marjane was born on October 12, 1933, in Logan, Cache County, Utah, to Elvin Christian and Margaret Allen Jorgensen. As a child, she lived in many places, attending grade schools in Minot, North Dakota; Grand Junction, Colorado; Weston, Idaho; and Ogden and Logan, Utah. She went on to attend Logan Junior High and graduated from Logan Senior High School in 1951. She continued her education at Utah State Agricultural College and at LDS Business College in Salt Lake City.
On June 12, 1964, Marjane married Roy Edward Vaughn, in Elko, Nevada. Together they made their home in Ogden, purchasing the home in 1968 where they would spend the rest of their life together. They had their first and only child, Sharon Barfuss, in 1973.
Throughout her career, Marjane worked at Squires Insurance Agency, Hill Air Force Base, the Internal Revenue Service, and Defense Depot Ogden. She retired from civil service in 1993 after many years of dedicated work.
Marjane was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith was a guiding force in her life and a source of great comfort.
She had a deep love for music, she enjoyed camping, and traveling, especially the yearly trip to Yellowstone National Park.
Marjane is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Dennis) Barfuss; her grandchildren, Briana Lanette Barfuss (Thomas Porter Wright) and Tyler Dennis Barfuss (Skyli Ann Alldridge); her great-granddaughters, Emma Brown Wright and Harper Jane Wright; her sister, Carolyn (Jerel) Olson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Margaret Jorgensen; her husband, Roy Edward Vaughn; her sister, Ludean Jackman; and brother-in-law, Don Jackman.
