Marilyn Helen Martin Howard passed away on July 23, 2023 at the age of 91. Marilyn was the only daughter of Charles and Helen Martin. She was born in Edwardsville, Illinois on November 21, 1931. Her family moved to Southern California, and she loved living there where she found some dear life-long friends.
In 1966 she married Richard Howard. Because of Dick’s work they were relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1971. Marilyn went to work at the University of Utah as a very competent administrative assistant in the Architects and Engineers office. Dick’s work transferred them to New Paris, Ohio. They later returned to Salt Lake and Marilyn was again employed as the Administrative Assistant for the Vice President of Health Sciences at the University of Utah. She loved working there and formed many close relationships which she cherished throughout her life.
Marilyn was a people person and loved making people laugh. She had a love for traveling and was able to see many of the world's beautiful places. She filled her retirement years with golfing, bowling, knitting, and quilting, as well as a volunteer at the Pioneer Valley Hospital. She was an avid reader and could be reading many books at a time and be able to describe the details of the story of each one.
She is survived by a loving nephew, Barkley Martin from Florida and a niece, Danette Hartley from California. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Fred and Danal and her husband, Richard.
A special thank you to Tender Care Hospice and Welcome Home Assisted Living and the caring people who watched over Marilyn as she struggled in the last few months of her life.
Marilyn’s memorial will be held Thursday, August 17th at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East, Bountiful, at 11:00 am. A visitation will precede the memorial from 10:00 am to 10:45 am. Marilyn will be buried at the Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio alongside her husband Dick.
