Marie Clark Padgett Carnahan passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Chancellor Gardens, in Clearfield, Utah.
Marie was born in Ogden, Utah, on May 11, 1935, to John Marcus Clark and Florence Martin Murphy. She grew up in Clearfield, Utah, where she attended Davis High, worked at the Pink Bunny, and was crowned Miss Clearfield. On May 19, 1954, on the spur of the moment, she drove to Elko, Nevada with Donald G. Padgett, where they were married. They went on to have 5 children and created many wonderful and cherished memories with them. They later divorced in 1991. In May 1995, she married David L. Carnahan, a longtime friend.
Marie worked at the Pizzeria in Sunset for many years, where she was quite the dough roller, with muscles to show for it. She was a chef extraordinaire, developing her cooking skills early in life. She had a knack for taking basic ingredients and whipping up something delicious. The flavors she could enhance from the food were amazing. She was famous for her butter horns! It was always a fun surprise for her kids coming home from school or guests arriving at her home, opening the door and smelling whatever sweet treats, she had whipped up.
Marie loved to garden and take care of her yard, she was meticulous with her weed whacking; her flowers and garden were the envy of the neighborhood. She even won an award for best yard at her home in Sunset.
Marie is survived by her children Scott Padgett, Mark Padgett (Holly), Sue Mietus, Benton Carnahan (Melissa), Kattie Earl (Jason), 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband David Carnahan, sons Mark Donald Padgett, Michael Curtis Padgett, siblings Lee Clark, Barbara Boor, and her parents.
