Margarita Toves Baza of Layton, Utah passed away quietly at Holy Cross Davis Hospital in Layton on June 30, 2024. She was born on the Island of Guam on August 1, 1933, to Jose Toves and Carmen Camacho. Margarita married Juan Leon Guerrero Baza in Guam in November 1951. Juan was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and he initially served at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam. Because of Juan’s military service, Margarita lived at or near military bases in Guam, Southern California, near Tokyo, Japan, and then in Layton, Utah where she has lived since June 1968.
Margarita was very proud of her two sons, John (m. to Darlene Carter) and Michael who both reside in Davis County, Utah. She also had great love for her four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Juan, brothers Antonio Toves, Jesus Toves, and Sergio Toves and sister Barbara Toves Santos. She is survived by brothers Oscar, Jose and Manuel Toves and sisters Concepcion San Nicolas and Maria Celestial as well as all of her posterity.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday July 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 Chapel Street, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family Wednesday July 10, 2024, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd. A vigil with Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Interment will occur following the funeral Mass at Lindquist Memorial Park in Layton where Margarita will be next to her beloved Juan at the same location.
