Margaret M. Curtis

SOUTH OGDEN a€" Margaret Maxine Curtis, 72, peacefully passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010 surrounded by her family.

She was born April 27, 1938 in Logan, Utah, the daughter of Evan and Margaret Chugg. She attended Logan High School and graduated in 1956. She had many fond memories of growing up in Logan, especially the time she spent with her grandparents.

Maxine was married to Alan M. Curtis for 33 years and raised five children as she moved around the world supporting her husband''s Air Force career. She enjoyed living in different countries and teaching her children about the world first hand. They were later divorced.

Maxine had a passion for literature and passed down a love of learning to her children and grandchildren. She always carried a book with her wherever she went.

After raising her five children, Maxine returned to college and earned a Bachelor''s degree with honors from Weber State University. She also worked at the university for many years as the coordinator of the Skills Enhancement Center. She loved tutoring the students and enjoyed helping and encouraging them.

She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings.

She was always giving selflessly to her family and those around her. Our mom always made us her top priority and taught us strength, resiliency, and a positive attitude. She was an avid reader, gourmet cook and expert seamstress. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Leslie (Edwin) Hurst, son, Steve (Debbie) Curtis, and daughters Lisa Lincoln, Lori (Chris) Mersmann, Diane (Mike) Sharp, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are her siblings, Marilyn Homer, Richelle (David) Amussen, Denise (John) Amussen and Alan (Polly) Chugg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Evan and Margaret Chugg.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and aides at Mtn. Ridge Assisted Living and the staff at Hospice For Utah and Comfort Hospice Care, for all their kind and loving care of our mother.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Eastwood Ward Chapel, 5855 So. Skyline Dr., South Ogden, UT.

Family will meet with friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
